Somewhat laudy libs

It’s been a while since I did a lauds/libations post, so here’s a combo. Via Book Patrol:

Aleing Authors Craft Beer

Very cool idea and great execution. This would be one of those beers that I’d nurse for ages while I read and admired the bottle. However, despite the continual fear that people don’t read or refuse to slog through the classics, I don’t think these authors (Virginia Woolf, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway, Mary Shelley, Oscar Wilde, and Edgar Allen Poe) are in much danger of being forgotten. They’re assigned in coursework throughout the nation. Their works are constantly being remade or re-envisioned or adapted. Why not widen the field? Why not mix it up, do a few more women or non-white writers?

Of course, that’s the beauty of this type of thing, and the endless well to draw from — new six-pack, new brews, new authors. And you can never have too much microbrew. I look forward to seeing who they pick for their next ales.
