More celebratory goodies: the non-chocolate version

Brown sugar brownies, brought to you courtesy of my grandma (the recipe) and my mom (the telephone)!

Also known as butterscotch brownies, these are a very tasty treat whether or not you’re able to have chocolate. Here’s the recipe, measurements/amounts U.S.

Brown Sugar (Butterscotch) Brownies
1/4 c butter
1 c brown sugar
1 egg
3/4 c flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 c walnuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt butter and add sugar. Cool. Add egg and beat mixture. Add the rest of the ingredients (sifting flour and baking powder so you don’t get lumpy starch/sodium surprises in your brownies) and mix well. Bake in a greased 8″x8″ pan for about 25 minutes. If you double the recipe as I did, it will easily fill a 9″x 13″ cake pan – don’t be deceived by the amount of batter.
